Happy Christmas!

December 20, 2024

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we prepare to break for the Christmas holidays, I want to take a moment to reflect on the past few weeks and share how wonderful it has been to return to Mount Temple Comprehensive. Many of you will know that I previously taught here before spending the past eight years as Deputy Principal at Sutton Park School. Returning to Mount Temple feels like coming home, and I am honoured once again to be part of this fantastic community as Principal.

One of the things that has struck me most since my return is the students. Their confident kindness in saying hello or greeting me in the corridor has been truly heartwarming. This sense of warmth and openness reflects the values we hold dear at Mount Temple and is a reminder of the incredible community we have here.

The Carol Service this week was another wonderful example of their dedication and teamwork. It was fantastic to see them working together, not only in the choir but also in the many support roles they undertook to help set up and assist on the night. Their hard work and sense of community are a credit to themselves, their families, and the school.

This term has also shown me, once again, the exceptional dedication of our staff. They work as one big team, each contributing in their own way to make Mount Temple the unique and welcoming place it is. Particular tribute should go to our team of Deputy Principals, middle leadership, teaching staff, SNAs, guidance counsellors, IT and support staff, office staff, caretakers, sick bay staff, librarians, and canteen staff, who all contribute so richly to the life of the school. Staff also give generously of their time across our wide and varied extracurricular offering, ensuring that students have opportunities to thrive beyond the classroom. Whether during events like the Carol Service or in the many ways they support students, the staff here are dedicated to fostering a positive and supportive school environment.

Looking ahead, we have an exciting milestone coming up with the rebuild project set to begin in January. This marks an important step in shaping the future of Mount Temple, and I am eager to work with all of you as we create a school environment that will inspire and support our students for years to come.

As we end this term, I want to thank you for your support and kindness during my return to Mount Temple. I am grateful to be part of such a special community. Wishing you all a joyful and restful Christmas, and I look forward to working together in the new year.

Best wishes,
David Bane
Principal
