Diversity Day 2024 in Mount Temple
April 12, 2024
As part of Geography Week the Geography teachers helped pupils organise a range of activities for our Diversity Day. The core of the day was an exhibition in Mount Temple Hall where pupils set up stalls where people could learn about the food, culture, history and geography of countries around the world. Another form of diversity that people could learn about was neurodiversity with a stall where pupils had information on ADHD and Autism. Every year group was given an hour slot to visit so around 1,000 visitors (including staff & pupils) got the chance to visit stalls and in many cases sample typical foods from that country. Just some of the countries represented included: South Africa, Palestine, Finland, Japan, Kenya, Venezuela, Ghana, Germany, Poland, Holland, Serbia, Spain, Japan, India, the Philippines. At some stalls there were quizzes, games, competitions (including one involving people eating a bowl of super spicy Thai curry!). Some pupils were dressed in traditional clothing of the country they have a connection to and one pupil was doing incredible henna tatoos. Lots of pupils spent they day their faces painted with the colours of flags of different countries. There was also a Japanese drumming display and Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony by visiting groups. Well done to all the pupils and staff involved in this fantastic celebration of diversity in the school and around the world. Check out the Gallery below for photographs.
