Maths Week 2025 (by Ms Randles).

October 20, 2025

A very successful Maths Week 2025 took place in Mount Temple! Students got involved in a range of activities including morning puzzles, quizzes, maths trails, competitions, and talks.

First Years took part in the annual Maths Quiz, working together in teams of four. The winning team was made up of Alex Maxwell, Emily O’Brien, Sam Purser, and Ciarán Flood – well done!

Second and Third Years enjoyed Ms Canny’s Maths Trails, using the school grounds to solve a series of mathematical problems.

Some of our Third, Fourth, and Fifth Year students also took part in the Maths Olympiad and the Maggie Gough National Competition. The top three students in the school were Susanna McDonald (3rd Year), Ailbhe Ní Ghaora (4th Year), and Zach North (5th Year) – all scoring above 90%, well above the national average.

Mr Buckley organised lecturer David Malone to come in to give sixth year students a talk about third level study, expectations, content and careers for those considering studying Maths or Maths adjacent courses and a little about the mathematics of elections.

Well done to all participants on a great Maths Week!
