The group was founded in 2012 by Danny Tynan, now a past pupil. SPECTRUM stands for Sexuality, Pride, Equality, Community, Trust, Respect and Unity in Mount Temple. Students are welcome to bring friends who are not LGBT as friends and allies can play an important role in our group. The group and school are proud to be the first secondary school LGBT support group (that we are aware of!) in Ireland.
BeLonG To is a youth organisation which supports LGBTI youth and it has worked with Mount Temple in supporting our students.

Mount Temple is delighted to re-introduce the Rainbows programme to our school life. Rainbows Ireland is a voluntary peer-support programme to assist students who are grieving a death, separation or other painful changes in their family.
Rainbows helps by providing a safe setting in which students can share their feelings, emotions and struggles with others who have shared experiences. They are supported in this by a trained facilitator and all information shared is confidential. Facilitators are teachers in the school who care about the grief of students and who are there to listen to what the students say. The group meets at lunchtime and the programme runs for 12 weeks. If you feel that your son/daughter would benefit from Rainbows please contact Ms.Finglas at jennifer.finglas@mounttemple.ie
