2nd – 5th year students have all received pouches previously; however, should their pouches no longer be in working condition or have been lost, they will need to be replaced prior to the commencement of classes on Friday.

The cost of a replacement pouch is €20. These can be purchased through the school app shop under the item “Replacement Phone Pouch.” Please do not purchase a pouch if your child already has a working pouch.

Replacement pouches which have been purchased by Thursday afternoon will be distributed in tutor time on Friday morning.

We hope you and your families have had a good summer. It has been lovely to see so many of our incoming First Years in Mount Temple over the last couple of weeks through the summer camps, getting to know the school and, importantly, getting to know each other.

We are really looking forward to welcoming the full First Year group next week. It is an exciting year to be joining Mount Temple. This will be our final year in the main building before we move into the new school, which is now really beginning to take shape.

A few practical details for next week.

Tuesday 25 August: First Year Induction, 9.00am to 11.00am

Induction will begin in Mount Temple Hall, the same hall that students and families have been in previously.

Students will come into the hall first, where they will meet with the Senior Leadership Team, their Year Head and Deputy Year Head, as well as their Form Team. They will then leave the hall in their individual form groups to begin their induction.

Once the students have moved off with their Form Teams, we will welcome parents and guardians into the hall. We will go through a number of practical items for the year ahead and there will also be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

As you will be aware by now, car parking at Mount Temple is extremely limited. If at all possible, we would ask families to avoid travelling by car on Tuesday. This will make a real difference given the number of students, parents, staff and other activities taking place on site that morning.

Wednesday 26 August

First Year Induction continues from 9.00am to 11.00am.

Thursday 27 August

First Year students are not required to attend school on Thursday.

Friday 28 August

First Year students begin full classes, with the school day running from 8.40am to 3.40pm.

We know starting secondary school is a big step, both for students and for families. The purpose of the first few days is to give students the chance to settle in, find their way around and get comfortable with their Form Group and the people who will be supporting them.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday and to welcoming our newest students properly into Mount Temple.

We hope everyone has had a good summer and that families have had a chance to enjoy some time away from school over the last few months.

Mount Temple has gradually been coming back to life over the last couple of weeks. Our First Year camps are underway, our Leaving Certificate students receive their results this Friday, and there has been plenty happening in the background as we prepare to welcome everyone back.

There is a lot to look forward to this year. 2026/27 will be our final school year in the main building before we move into the new school. The new building has made great progress over the summer and is really beginning to take shape. We will share some photos and further updates on the project over the coming weeks.

Change to the start of the school day

There is one important change for students and families to be aware of this year.

Previously, the school day began with Tutor Time. From this year, students will go straight to their first subject class, with Period 1 beginning at 8.40am. Tutor Time will then take place after Period 1.

This makes arriving to school on time particularly important. Students need to be in school, organised and ready to begin their first class at 8.40am. We would strongly encourage students to aim to arrive no later than 8.30am.

We will be placing a strong emphasis on punctuality this year. Students arriving late to school without good reason will not be acceptable. We would appreciate the support of parents and guardians in making sure students adjust their morning routines where necessary and are in school in plenty of time for the start of Period 1.

The school day will operate as follows:

Period 1: 8.40 to 9.38am
Tutor Time: 9.38 to 9.50am
Period 2: 9.50 to 10.48am
Break: 10.48 to 11.08am
Period 3: 11.08am to 12.06pm
Period 4: 12.06 to 1.04pm
Lunch: 1.04 to 1.44pm
Period 5: 1.44 to 2.42pm
Period 6: 2.42 to 3.40pm

There will be some further updates between now and the beginning of full classes as we get the final arrangements in place.

For now, enjoy the rest of the summer and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to Mount Temple next week.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Wishing the very best of luck to all our Leaving Certificate students who will be receiving their results this Friday, 21st August.

Results will be available online from 10:00am via the Candidate Self Service Portal (CSSP). We strongly encourage students to check their portal login details and password over the next day or two so everything runs smoothly on Friday morning.  If a student has not registered yet, don’t worry, they can register here: CSSP 

As Ms Lenihan noted in her guidance for students on their Google Classroom, while results are accessed online, students are also more than welcome to pop into the school on Friday morning to collect their results in person. Some of our staff members will be here to offer support, guidance, or just a friendly face as results come through.

A few key reminders for students and families as you prepare for Friday:

Calculating CAO Points 

The official Statement of Results on the CSSP displays subject grades only and does not show total CAO points. Students will need to calculate their own points total. The official CAO Points Calculator available online is a handy tool for this. CAO Points Calculator

Understanding Points 

Last year’s entry points are purely a guide. Points move up and down every year based on course supply and demand, so nobody will know the 2026 points thresholds until the CAO first round offers are released on Wednesday, 26th August.

Helpline and Guidance Support 

Alongside our staff in school, the National Parents and Students Leaving Certificate Helpline will be operational from Friday morning. Details of the service will be updated on the  Leaving Cert Helpline page, and students or parents can reach guidance counsellors directly by phone on 1800 265 165 or by text on +353 86 180 0685.

We are immensely proud of our 6th Year students and all they have achieved during their time in Mount Temple. As they take this next big step out into the world, we are just excited to see what the future holds for them. Whatever Friday brings, please remember that there are always options and clear paths forward, and we are here if anyone needs a bit of advice or support.
